Artichoke - An exotic flower in the diet

The artichoke originated in the Mediterranean, in southern Europe and northern Africa. It is most common in Italy and has been on the market since the mid-1400s.

It was brought to Brazil by European immigrants and cultivated in mild climates.

This vegetable has thorny leaves and purple flowers and is mainly consumed for its light and delicate flavor.

Artichokes naturally optimize the liver's enzymatic functions and are rich in nutrients such as proteins, minerals and vitamins.
