Blue light, also known as visible light, is present in sunlight and especially in the light generated by electronic devices such as cell phones, computers and televisions. It reaches the deepest layers of the skin, reaching the dermis, increasing Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) capable of damaging DNA and interfering with cell functionality, as well as increasing metalloproteinases (MMPs) involved in the degradation of collagen and elastin.
Thus, prevention and care of the effects of blue light on the skin are important measures to slow down photoaging, minimizing the appearance of sagging, wrinkles and hyperchromias.
OLEA HT™10 is able to reduce the production of ROS by up to 68% in fibroblasts and the expression of metalloproteinases by up to 61%, according to studies, proving its effectiveness in preventing and caring for the skin against the effects of blue light.
