CAVABERINE™ (WACKER)

Greater cellular energy efficiency

Technology that turns absorption into results

It is an innovative ingredient developed from berberine derived from Berberis aristata, containing at least 30% berberine. Its technology is designed to control the formation of crystalline structures and improve the molecule’s solubility in intestinal fluids, promoting greater absorption by the body.

The presence of CAVAMAX®, WACKER’s proprietary γ-cyclodextrin, combined with OPTISOLV® molecular encapsulation technology, contributes to enhanced dissolution, protection against gastric degradation, and controlled release in the intestine.

Composition

INCI Name: Berberis aristata roots

Gamma-cyclodextrin

Camellia sinensis extract

sunflower lecithin

CAVABERINE™ stands out for its testing protocols that track the molecule’s path through the digestive tract, including dissolution, bioaccessibility, intestinal permeation, and intestinal transport in a Caco-2 model.

In the studies presented in this slide, the active ingredient demonstrates 7.8 times greater intestinal bioaccessibility and 13.4 times greater bioavailability compared to conventional berberine, reinforcing its technological potential for high-performance formulations.

The mechanism of action of CAVABERINE™ is primarily associated with the activation of AMPK, a protein kinase considered a central regulator of cellular energy metabolism. This activation promotes processes related to glucose and lipid metabolism, contributing to greater cellular energy efficiency.

Through this pathway, the active ingredient participates in processes such as improved insulin sensitivity, increased glucose utilization by cells, enhanced fatty acid oxidation, and reduced lipogenesis.
