Grapefruit, also known as Grapefruit, is part of the Citrus genus and has important actions in health care, having been widely used since the beginning of the 20th century due to its medicinal properties.
It is said that the physician, physicist and immunologist Dr. Jacob Harich, upon noticing that Grapefruit seeds thrown into compost were not decomposing, began to examine them more closely and discovered that the phytochemicals present in the seeds had a potent antimicrobial action.
The extract obtained from grapefruit seeds was found to be active against viruses, bacteria, yeasts and other fungi, demonstrating its potent ability to modulate microbial development and proving its benefits in the treatment of candidiasis.
Statistics show that up to 75% of women may suffer from candidiasis at some stage in their lives. Candida albicans is a fungus naturally present in the vaginal flora. However, the use of contraceptives, a diet rich in sugars and changes in vaginal pH, among other factors, can contribute to its proliferation.
