Is the extract of true saffron, obtained by drying the three red stigmas of the Crocus sativus L. flower .
It is standardized to 0.3% safranal, a volatile oil responsible for saffron's aroma, as well as being rich in crocin, a carotenoid responsible for Saffrin®'s characteristic color.
Saffrin® is grown in the Mediterranean region, where the climate is characterized by hot, dry breezes and arid or semi-arid lands, favouring the concentration, variety and unique composition of its phytochemicals.

True saffron has been considered a spice since ancient times, especially in Mediterranean cuisine, due to its intense yellow color. This delicacy is highly prized because only a small part of the saffron flower(Crocus sativus L.), the stigma, is used to obtain it.
To obtain 1g of dried saffron, 150 flowers are needed, so 1kg of flowers are used to produce 12g of dried saffron, explaining why saffron is considered the most expensive spice in the world.
In addition, the characteristic yellow-orange color of real saffron is due to the presence of carotenoids, the natural pigments present in its composition, including crocin.
Today we know about the antioxidant potential of saffron, which is totally associated with well-being and quality of life.
It is worth noting that true saffron(Crocus sativus) is commonly confused with turmeric (Cúrcuma). However, turmeric is a root of Asian origin that resembles ginger. It is rich in the active compound curcumin and has a golden yellow color and spicy taste, unlike the characteristics of real turmeric mentioned above.
